About me

Hi, I'm Alice. I'm an 18 year old girl who's studying Fashion Communication and Promotion at uni.
My passion's lie with the world of fashion, photography and film. I love to experiment with different ideas and concepts, learning new skills on the way. I've always been one to understand to gain inspiration from anywhere so expect to see a lot of tv and fashion collection reviews.

Here I'm going to write about my favourite things as well as the lessons I learn on the way. Hope you enjoy my content.

Aesthetics: I don’t think I have one

Aesthetics have been something that people describe their styles since Tumblr days. The days when everyone would post diary-like entries with the photo being of something you got from Pinterest.

Aesthetics now have become part of the social DNA, as the idea of e and soft boys and girls have become the newest trends. Don’t get even get me started on VSCO girls (who are basically Tumblr girls 2.0).

If you look on Youtube or Instagram every person has an aesthetic. You fall down that rabbit hole of watching aesthetic videos, but always in the back of your head questioning which aesthetic you actually are. So you keep scrolling and scrolling until you realise you don’t really have one. I’m kinda speaking on personal experiences here, can you tell?

I think it’s ok to not have one or to have a mixture of a few because honestly, it must be hard sticking to just one all the time. What if you were an e-girl and you saw the cutest skirt that was apparently soft girl aesthetic. You’re telling me you won’t buy that? All because you can’t look like a soft girl. Can‘t you make it your own and add loads of chains and some knee-high socks and docs to make it more of a more e-girl look. Like that would look so good.

Saying all of this I’m starting to realise that I kind of sound like my mum when she questions why I wear ripped jeans, so let me stop there. I just have one last question what’s the aesthetic for people who don’t have one?

Some of the other aesthetics are: retro, grunge and hypebeast
