A look into concepts

Before starting uni I don't think I ever would have know what a concept is, but know that I do I want to enlighten all of you.
A concept is almost like a big idea as to its a way of using your idea for a bigger picture. It's all about the influence that an idea has on its target market, focusing on how they would feel when seeing the idea once its an outcome. Personally, I think that the importance of the target market and how they would feel with the idea becomes the focus due to fact that each of the steps leading up to this point hasn't really focused on the audience especially. Know that is the case it gives a reason for me to look back on the idea and give that context of how it can work with either an audience chosen by me or by a brand.

From the lecture today we looked at photographers and how they create stories throughout their photos. It was interesting to understand this and how it connects to concepts and they are selling emotion, something that is important to the concept stage, at least that's how I interpreted it. They showed about the connotations of an image, looking at the way the photographer used a certain position or lighting to give a negative or bright feeling. I found this interesting as when looking into photographers many just see the image and say words like "that's cool" or "I like that", so to have someone explain fully why the model has their arm a certain way or why they were wearing the clothes they were seemed to give a deeper meaning.
There was also a part of the lecture where we looked at the story and how it made us feel. The main thing that stood out for me was that everyone had different ideas of what was happening in the photo, a classic case of interpretation. Many times people see things differently due to the way they have lived there life and so for me, I question if it was a big sister. The case of how it made us feel was the same throughout the whole of the lecture theatre as everyone felt uncomfortable due to the way the doll starred almost like it was looking into your soul. I think that was what Tim Walker (the photographer) wanted though as when you look at most of his work there is a sense of madness and futurism that makes you feel uncomfortable at times. I think what I learnt in the lecture will really help me during this stage as I can understand a bit better about the emotional impact a brand can make with its customers.
(Ok but look at this picture and tell me it doesn't creep you out)

What I want to learn more about in this stage:
-how a brand can build a relationship emotionally with customers in a bit more context
-how I can make an idea more detailed without it turning into an outcome
-what's the main difference between an outcome and concept
-what are the different ways of creating a concept
-what are the important stages of a concept

So do I have any worries about this stage?
Well, the answer is, of course, I think it's usual to have worries about going into something that you don't know a lot about but I think if I keep asking questions and try to do some research of my own then it might help me to understand the stage a little bit more then I already do from one search on google. I think that once I have understood this in more detail then I will be able to gain more confidence in what I am doing at this time and in the future when I have to develop the concept stage again.
