Fashion, like everything is based on whats seen around us. Pop-culture and history plays big parts in this as they are what is seen throughout these new collections by designers, or the newest photos taken by people like Cecil Beaton or Branislav Simoncik.
From the lecture today I was able to understand more into how much culture is actually used by the different medias of fashion and how they interpret each form i.e. dance, film, decades. The way a brand or photographer can see a certain idea or concept and it become a big outcome that has many layers of understanding interests me on how they get to that point. I think having this break down of different stages of an idea helps to understand how. For me, I want to see how they manage to see the idea and expand it to being a outcome fit to be on the cover of Vogue or being shown in a catwalk. The next part for me will be to use these ideas my lecturer has given me and see if i can use this in my own life. I think I'll probably being looking into film and dance, as they both interest me. So get ready for blogs about them.
If you want to look more into how fashion was influenced by film ( because once you go down that rabbit hole its hard to get out) here's a link to start you off.
