About me

Hi, I'm Alice. I'm an 18 year old girl who's studying Fashion Communication and Promotion at uni.
My passion's lie with the world of fashion, photography and film. I love to experiment with different ideas and concepts, learning new skills on the way. I've always been one to understand to gain inspiration from anywhere so expect to see a lot of tv and fashion collection reviews.

Here I'm going to write about my favourite things as well as the lessons I learn on the way. Hope you enjoy my content.

Let's create a pitch

What is the pitch? According to Google (a very valuable source), a pitch is "the presentation of a business idea to potential investors. People pitch a business because they need resources."

In the lecture, the message was that an idea is a concept that can be expanded into many areas but, isn't something that should be blind sighted. It's hard for me to work out what’s an outcome and what’s an idea as they seem similar. I think of them to be in the same category, but If I'm honest, I'm confused about the difference. Hopefully, I should get more information on that later.

"Develop ideas and concepts to meet the brief of creating a pitch of a department store using your trend story as well as a specific outcome." This is my new brief, to be honest, I like this idea of thinking of possibilities that, even though won't come true, maybe something that could work in the future. It’s interesting to think of new developments for department stores that are so popular for the branding that they already own. For example, we have been given John Lewis, a brand that sets its target customer to older generations such as Gen Y and baby boomers. This new revolution becomes the new struggle in my group as we have to figure what do with this set market and its brand that doesn't level with our generation. We think of John Lewis as more of a place to avoid for a struggling student living off Tesco meal deals. It'll be interesting to see which direction we go with. We also have a trend story of purity, like in our mood boards which are on my Instagram. This along with an outcome of lens (anything to do with imagery) makes for an interesting discussion be had.
